Here are 10 new black&white animal portraits taken in various zoos in Germany. The term “new”, however, has to be taken with a grain of salt. Most of the photos were taken back in 2016, but thanks to new tools and techniques I have learned over the years, I have only just now been able to finish them.

The photographs are presented without further information except for the title and the location. No explanations, no talking. Just enough silence to allow for silent conversations between you and the image. What story does it tell you? Which emotions does it convey? Does it mean something to you? Why? Feel free to ask each animal in each photo and listen to its answers. They surely have some fascinating stories to tell.
