This post is the first installment of a new series of posts all about photographs taken in New York City in October 2024. The first set of posts is a sub-series called New York Refractions. It is the third time that I try to show a city in the reflections and (semi-transparencies) of its windows and other shiny surfaces. Before that I have already created series called Brussels Refractions in the summer of 2024 and London Refractions in 2023. They are all rooted in the “Deliberately Confusing” series which I begun more than 5 years ago. The basic idea is to create complexity, confusion, mystery, and (hopefully) fascination. Most of these photographs are meant for the viewer to explore for a longer period of time, discover new details, and get lost in in the process.
So, maximize your browser window, click on the images below and explore each one in an almost distraction free lightbox, take your time and look around, and get lost in countless details an distorted allusions. Don’t forget to look out for New York Refractions, Pt. 2 in the not too distant future. If you don’t want to miss, why not subscribe to my newsletter?
